Standard 2×1 Labels

Our standard 50.8mm x 25.4mm labels are resin printed on thin white film with a permanent adhesive, on a type of waxed paper backing and provided as a roll on a 1″ core. This has proved to be the most convenient size for customers to handle.

Unlike paper labels printed with ink, these are extremely strong and resilient because the label itself doesn’t tear, and printing with resin is a heat-transfer process which embeds the print into the upper surface of the label making it impossible to scratch off. They therefore have a long lifetime, whcih makes them especially useful in libraries where readers tend to pick at tickets and damage them. In the past we would have supplied special labels with a top coating to prevent this – but the probelm is solved by modern film labels.

There is very little advantage of ink and paper labels these days even taking environmental factors into consideration, and we now produce all our standard labels on film with resin printing – which turns out cheaper for our customers because we do not need to keep so many different types of material in stock and can therefore buy in larger quantities.

The ‘permanent’ grade of adhesive will stick to most surfaces. It can be peeled with some effort, but when applied to paper it is likely to tear the surface off.
