Syble XB-2055 Corded Scanner with Stand

If you need a simple, cost-effective barcode scanner this is difficult to beat in terms of price and functionality. It is a low-priced scanner but very comfortable to use and the build quality is very good.  We have sold hundreds of these over the years and never had a problem with them.

It is a linear scanner emitting a red line, which means it only reads one-dimensional ‘bar’ codes, which are technically the only type of ‘bar’ codes as others such as the PDF417 and QR codes do not consist of bars.  If your code consists of bars this will almost certainly read it (but see the note at the bottom of the page).

In common with most other scanners, it plugs into a USB socket and effectively types the code it reads as if it was a keyboard.  All modern computers recognise it as a plug-and-play Human Interface Device (HID) so no setup is usually required.

The ones we stock are black.  The stand is packed as three pieces which you need to screw together, for which you will require a small screwdriver – annoying if you were deploying hundreds of them throughout a business, but for a few units it takes only half a minute.

This scanner comes with:

  • Coiled cable which plugs into a USB A
  • A stand consisting of a base and gooseneck

Note: Although this, and many other scanners, claim to read all linear barcodes, almost none of them apart from Opticon scanners read Telepen. Telepen codes were designed to be typed, and read with a wand. They are not in common use these days, and it is unlikely you have Telepen codes unless you deal with archives consisting of old stored documents – but if you are concerned feel free to send us a readable image of the codes you want to read and we can check.  We can obtain scanners that do read them.
